Social Media Accounts

Set up a Legacy Contact on Facebook (Settings → Memorialization Settings)

Decide: memorialize or delete your Instagram account after death

Download a copy of your data from Facebook, Instagram, and X as a backup

Document your TikTok, YouTube, LinkedIn usernames and account emails

Write instructions for your executor: which accounts to delete vs. keep

Apple & Google Accounts

Set up Apple Legacy Contact: Settings → [Your Name] → Sign-In & Security → Legacy Contact

Configure Google Inactive Account Manager (decide what happens after 18 months of inactivity)

Document your iCloud storage contents: photos, documents, notes

Note: Apple purchased media (apps, music, films) is non-transferable under Apple's ToS

Cryptocurrency & Digital Assets

List all wallets and exchanges (Coinbase, Kraken, Ledger, MetaMask, etc.) with email used to register

Store seed phrases securely on paper or metal — NOT digitally. Store separately from passwords

Instruct executor on how to access hardware wallets (Ledger/Trezor PIN + seed phrase location)

Add a digital asset clause to your will (consult an estate attorney for your state)

List any NFTs or digital collectibles and the platform they are held on

Passwords & Account Access

Use a password manager (1Password, Bitwarden, Dashlane) with Emergency Access enabled

Set up Emergency Access for your trusted designee in your password manager

Document your primary email password and recovery method separately and securely

Subscriptions & Billing

List all monthly subscriptions (Netflix, Spotify, Adobe, gym, etc.) with monthly amounts

Identify which credit card each subscription bills to

Document any domain names, hosting plans, and income-generating websites

Note any Patreon, Substack, or creator platform subscriptions or income streams

AI & Digital Identity

Decide what happens to your ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini chat history — document your wishes

If you have a voice clone or AI avatar, document it and state your explicit wishes

Document AI tool subscriptions (Midjourney, ElevenLabs, ChatGPT Plus, etc.)

Legal & Documentation

Ensure your will includes a digital assets clause — see your state's RUFADAA adoption on our State Laws page

Name a digital executor — someone tech-savvy who understands your accounts

Store all documentation in a secure, known location — not just in your head

Tell your executor WHERE your digital estate documents are stored

Review and update this checklist every 12 months or after major life changes
